Talking trades with Paul Lafrance and his daughter Promise!
In recognition of Learning Disabilities Awareness Month, student(s) in grades 7-12, and their supporters, are invited to a free, interactive, virtual workshop presenting HGTV’s Paul Lafrance and his daughter Promise as they talk about their journeys in the trades. Cambrian’s own Colleen Heidman will also present “Pathways to Careers in Trades” and there will be a presentation on the Dual Credit Program, and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), and the Glenn Crombie Centre for Accessibility and Wellness. All attendees will have a chance to win a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Touchscreen Laptop.
The event is brought to you by Cambrian College, The Learning Disabilities Association of Sudbury, the Rainbow District School Board, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, The School College Work Initiative, and the Ontario Post-secondary Access & Inclusion Program (OPAIP).

Flag Raising

The Learning Disabilities Association of Sudbury’s (LDAS) flag was raised yesterday morning at Tom Davies Square. Mayor Brian Bigger was on hand to officially proclaim October as Learning Disabilities Awareness Month in the City of Greater Sudbury and has also accepted the role as Honourary Chair for awareness events all month long.

SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

NOCLD AND HUNTINGTON UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCE SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

The Northern Ontario Centre for Learning Differences (NOCLD), along with Huntington University, are proud to announce Kendra Chirico of Sturgeon Falls, ON and Cameron Boland, of Sudbury, ON, as the winners of the 2019 Northern Ontario Student Transition Scholarships. The two scholarships are awarded to students pursuing a full-time program in the fall of their graduating year at an accredited post-secondary institution in Northern Ontario. As winners, they have each received a $500 scholarship provided by Huntington University.

  • Learn how to ask for help to develop self-advocacy
  • Get organized
  • Calm the mind with techniques for self-regulation
  • Discover how assistive technology can support success

We will be honouring seven outstanding Sudburians who have greatly contributed to the learning disabilities community. NOCLD ANNOUNCES NEW HONORARY CHAIR

The Northern Ontario Centre for Learning Differences (NOCLD) is pleased to announce Fred Slade, a respected Chartered Accountant and community leader from Greater Sudbury, as Honorary Chair. Fred Slade will help bring awareness to the organization, as well as the families it serves throughout northeastern Ontario.
